The Beijing Olympics Will Bring Out Every Part Of Human Nature

Man I love the Olympics, the spectacle, the competition, the personal stories, the drama, the controversy and for our personal entertainment and national pride.

As a Spiritual Counselor and Business Consultant, I witness this drama everyday in my Spiritual Practice. Of course my clients are not on the center stage of the world, but they are on the center stage of their lives. Whether we know it or not, we each have prepared our entire lives for our daily does of competition, drama and controversy.

Here’s what I mean – you have things in life that you are passionate about and you have a set of natural talents where you could be the best in the world in that particular area. The only difference in life and Olympics Events is that Olympic Events have an elaborate set of written rules that the competitors agree to abide by to participate. In our life, we get to write the rules. While we do have cultural and societal rules that we agree to follow, pretty much everything else falls under the general category of “freedom of choice” or “free will”. Free will and freedom of choice cause people more problems, pain and angst than anything else that I’ve witnessed because we forget that we have it.

Instead of being free, we inherit the “written and unwritten” rules from our community. The people that influenced us most between the ages of 1 and 4 imprinted their “worldly rules” in our consciousness. And it’s this set of rules that we play by unconsciously until we consciously decide to make a change. Just like the Olympic Committee has the authority to change the rules for Olympic Events, so can you change the rules that we play by.

Your awareness is the tool that changes the rules that govern your life. Awareness is developed through meditation, reflection and contemplation. It’s awareness that separates us from other animals and awareness that can lead to our enlightenment. Another word for awareness is consciousness which is best developed by mindfully being present right here, right now experiencing this moment fully.

It’s funny, since the early 1990’s when I went to T Harv Eker’s – Street Smart Business School, I’ve been a Seminar Junkie. I’ve spent lots of money and tons of time in the “seminar” room training, developing and practicing for life. Little did I know (I was unaware) that I had everything that I needed all the time, I just couldn’t recognize it. In my opinion, you can stop attending any seminars that do not specifically train you in a skill set and simply devote 40 days each year to developing your awareness and consciousness.

Let me say that differently. Don’t waste your money for seminars. If you enjoy going, then go, have fun and participate fully. But realize that you don’t need it. The answers that you are looking are within your consciousness, your sub-conscious mind and your awareness – It’s just that you can’t access the information.

These programs and seminars are great fun, educational, entertaining and will open you mind to what is possible. Here is the thing, until you are ready for success you will not be a success. Until you are ready to be in a healthy relationship things will continue the way they’ve been. Until you’re ready to live a healthy lifestyle your health will stay the same. Until you’re ready for financial success your finances will not transform.

How can I say that?

Simple – the underlying Spiritual Truth is that you will have the results that you want “in time and on time”. The harsh part is that “in time and on time” has nothing to do with what we think is the “right time”.

But Terry, what about all of the success stories and testimonials that I see? It’s simple, for those people the timing was right. The answers you’re seeking will happen no matter where you’re at or what you’re doing. The only caveat to that is as long as you’re sober.

In my opinion Westerner are addicted to being busy and thinking. We love to be busy, on the run, our to-do lists and being somewhere other than where we are at right now. We are also obsessed with out obsessive thinking. The seminar, self-help and coaching industry counts our trying to think and reason our ways out of our problems. The “self-help” industry as a whole counts on our discontent to sell us the solution to our problems and issues.

Ha – the funny thing is that my personal business and practice is filled with people that are impatient and don’t want to take the time to resolve their issues organically. The organic solution to any problem or issue is constantly accessible if we choose hear them. It’s quite simple “nothing can be heard through the thunder of the mind”. And as Westerners we are completely content with our discontentment and addicted to our thoughts, the self help industry counts on it.

You always have a choice and the freedom to choose how your life will be. You always have your right answer within your awareness. Your awareness is omnipresent, if you care to listen.

If you’re impatient, we are here to help. Coaches, consultants, gurus, seminars, self-help books, tapes and videos also have the answers you need. The dilemma is that if you can’t hear your own inner-coach, your own inner-knowing how will anyone else be able to get through. If you’re like me, you have notebooks and notes where the very answer you are wanting is recorded, but you couldn’t recognize it until it was “your time”.

Well we are here to help you. We will help you to the best of our abilities and only you can bring about the changes that you are seeking. Anyway you choose is the perfect way – simply enjoy your journey and be your personal best!
